Turbo oil return line 96 850.

I'll be replacing the gasket and o ring as they are leaking. Anything else I should do while I am in there? What about the oil thermostat gasket, for example. There may be oil leaks from elsewhere on further looking, but I'd happily accept advise about what specifics I should be looking for, thanks.

You'll have to drain the coolant so you can unbolt the coolant pipe at the turbo towards the rear of the car first before you can remove the turbo oil return tube. Be sure to install the gasket dry with NO RTV.

Thanks, saw robertdiy's video on this job. Looks pretty simple. Not sure why coolant line needs loosened, but if I didn't I suspect I'd find out the fit is too tight to remove oil drain line. But what else do I look at while I'm there?

I would just clean up the loose oil and verify that nothing else is leaking up there.

I never pull that line on the fwd cars, but that would not hurt, make it a little easier.

I think I might try without, and if need be I will. Draining coolant is always a PIA.

I did this job not too long ago on both 850 and S70. On one of the cars I had to slightly loosen the coolant hose, the other car I didn't.
Neither did I drain the coolant. Things to do: put anti-sieze on bolts and lubricate the seals with oil before installing. I posted something to this effect.

I just had to pull the turbo on a '98 V70 awd to do it because someone had stripped one of the bolts and did not use the proper seal on the block side. Some people's kids.
