There are 2 P80 C70 coupes for sale on MVS (I listed one for someone I spoke to selling one).
Why is it they are not selling? IS there something I don't know about them that makes them hard to sell?
I haven't tried to sit in one yet, but for me headroom may be an issue as even P80 sedans and wagons with sunroofs are marginal for me, so maybe this may exclude them for me.
But otherwise, is there other issues particular to them, or is it they are just not practical for most folks compared to say a V/S70?
Neil.

I know C70s have a several unique problems with things like door handles and locks, they are especially bad and the parts differ vs S/V70 (I am speaking vaguely, don't know the exact parts just have ready the stories ...). But I also ignore them because they are small, and I am tall ...

This is just a guess of course, but maybe they are not liked so much for their limited practicality.
Maybe most people here prefer a wagon for their space. Even sedans have more space when you flip the back seat down I think.
They are more of a weekend cruiser than the everyday workhorse. And I think they are awesome as a second or third car.
For a split second I was considering getting a C70 for my daughter who will be getting her license this summer, but it would have to be a stick. But that combined with an HPT makes the insurance go up a bit. Anything remotely sporty does for that matter.

I hear you 850LPT. The other guys show the issues are mainly as I thought about the hard to find parts (ask a guy who spent 9 months tracking parts for his 2000 'R'). The other issue being head room. Unfortunately being over 6ft with a long body precludes most coupes from my garage. I had a Porsche 928 many years ago and could just squeeze in, but my head was constantly on the headlining. Had to sell to move to Canada but did love that car.
It is funny how insurance works (we are paying $3600/year for our 20 year old son driving an 06 XC70), but strangely the Volvos are way lower to insure than say our daughters 09 Saturn Aura with a 2.4l 4 pot! Even our Kia Sportage is higher rated.
The way the system rate the car is nuts here, but I do appreciate there are sometimes reasons for them. The 98 V70 XC we had was rated as a 15, my 2000 'R' as a 20, the 06 XC70 as a 25, the 15 Kia Sportage at a 26, and the Saturn at a 33!??
So it is way cheaper to insure my son in a 310bhp (modified) R than in a 140bhp (?) Saturn Aura.
Weird world.
Neil.

Sorry for the off topic, but i just had to verify...
You spend 3600 dollar insurance for 1 car for 1 year?
What do you get for all that money?
I pay 30 euros a month for my t5 wagon...

Yes that is for ONE car which my son drives. You really get dinged here for young people driving until you hit 25, males in particular.
That is for comprehensive full cover insurance. Again, you can get cheaper insurance, but the scam they run here is that if you do that then you don't get lawyer cover. So if you get in a wreck the lawyer costs are on you. Also the young in the family cannot be insured on the cheapest car.
It gives $2m in liability insurance, but no windshield cover as we get so many broken windshield here due to the small rocks they put on the roads in winter. Windshields here are relatively cheap. Volvo V/S70 is about $250 installed. Windshield insurance is $250-300/year.
That is the problem of living in a country with people who like to sue anything for any reason.
For my 2000 R I pay about $75/month fully comprehensive.

Wow.. That is so much money. Also compared to your volvo.
There is an age gap here too. But its just 20-30 procent more I think. My cars were on my mothers name when I was young.
My insurance covers the window too. I would only have to pay 70 euro obligatory own risk and I'd get a new original windscreen including work. They even do it on site where you want, no extra cost.
And yes.. Luckely we dont need lawyers here. Since everyone has to be insured by law there is no problem whatsoever if you hit someone.
You just fill out the standard accident form, give it to your insurance and they will sort it out amongst themselves.
There is some official right help included, to help with legal issues. with Breakins my in car stuff is insured until 20000 euro. Trauma until half a million I think. but trauma is covered in ones personal obligatory insurance allready anyway.
If you have an all risk covered insurance, you pay around 60-70 percent more per month. But you always get your accident costs back. Wether it is your fault or not. whatever you did. costs will get higher every time you claim though.
If you have the insurance like mine, you only get your accident costs if the accident wasnt your fault. but the other is always covered in any way.
You work up a discount the longer you drive accident free. After some accidents this discount goes down again as a penalty. But not much.
They are a bit quick to judge an older car as economically totalled/scrapped when been in an accident, but besides that the system work quite stress free.
I just heard in Hungary they pay 50-70 euro a year for a cheap insurance.. Pfff....
nah sorry for the off topic!

would you purchase a c70 that has spent its life in the rust belt ? found a nice 5MT in St. Louis, don't they use salt there? in 66 years of living in New Orleans I have seen about 6 inches of snow total. no such thing as rust buckets here... hence the question.

Very little salt in my limited experience but P80s just don't rust, even in NY
Buy and enjoy it!
