240 fuel system problem.
I have a very loud buzz coming from the vicinity of the main fuel pump/accumulator. When the car is idling I can reach under and feel alot of vibration on the line that leaves the accumulator. Both fuel pumps and the accumulator have recently been replaced. I'd appreciate any info on this buzz, it's very loud inside the car.

Just a thought - when the pump/accumulator unit was replaced did you refit the rubber mountings? If they are missing it could cause vibration of metal parts.

My intank prepump buzzes but I like the sound because that way I know it is working. I can hear it stopped at a light with radio off other than that I cannot hear it (but I am old).
That's a subtle buzzing. I've driven this car since '93 and am accustomed to its sounds. The buzz I'm hearing is VERY loud. I hear it clearly inside the house with the car running outside. It's abnormal ! Consequently the car is not being driven. The latest development, after replacing the accumulator, is that now I also have a hesitation on acceleration. I'd be happy to take these problems to a mechanic but the car is old and rusty and the local Volvo mechanic says it's not worth the effort to fix and won't work on it anymore. The business is growing by leaps & bounds & he can pick and choose. I love this car and hate to see it end this way. The engine purrs like a kitten. It drives like a dream but admittedly looks pretty bad. Sadly I'm stuck and don't know what to do next. These boards are our only hope. If anyone has an idea I'd greatly apprteaciate hearing it.
Hey, Have you checked your fuel line, and what sort of petrol do you fill up with, coz i know, my dads old V8 landrover discovery had that same buzz, he filled up with liberty petrol (in australia it's a bad petrol station) once, his car was off the road for quite a bit of time, coz it didnt accelerate and buzzed at the fuel pump, so replace the pump and hosing from the pump, or get it professionally cleaned (as he did) and see if that fixes the buzzing, coz bad fuel can clog up the insides of your fuel lines and pump!!!
Hope you can sort out ya probs!
