Engine Temp question.

I've been monitoring my S70s coolant temp with torque using an OBD2 bluetooth dongle.

What is normal operation for these cars?

Cruising down the road temps stays normal at 190-195ish. When stopped for any reason temp climbs to 210-215 until the fan comes on. Seems hot to me.

No sign of a blown head gasket, leaking coolant or anything like that.

Temp gauge stays pointed right at the 3 oclock position the entire time.

Perfectly normal. A tad low if anything but there is natural variation from sensor to sensor. Keep in mind that, even if it were pure water and not coolant, the water will not boil at 212 degrees since it is under pressure. Typical coolant at 12 PSI boils at around 260 degrees.

Hottest in my car. 120F that day.

The factory temp gauge is designed specifically to stay centered even as the temperature varies by up to ~30 degrees for just this reason. Too many questions from concerned owners!

I was thinking anything over 200 was the danger zone!
