2001 V70XC Turn signal issues
2001 V70XC Turn signal issues
So this 2001 V70XC is somewhat new to me. Picked it up as a project car and have enjoyed it so far. I have one issue that bothers me and can't seem to figure it out. It doesn't happen every time I use the turn signals, but enough it's annoying. When I turn the signals on, sometimes they flash fast (on the dash only) indicating that I have a bulb out but none of the bulbs are out and they are all working just fine. This was happening before I had the clock spring replaced and has continued since it was replaced also. I only mention that because the previous clock spring was bad and that was the only time the steering column was messed with. All of the fuses are good and in place. Also the wiper blades on the headlights seem to have a mind of their own. I am not sure if this is tied to the same system as well. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

This is an easy one - you likely have a bad turn-signal bulb socket up front, and it is intermittently failing. The cable unplugs from it, and the socket twists to remove from the mounting to the headlight/turn signal assembly. I suppose that one could clean contacts and such, but many people have given up in frustration and just replaced the part, as it is not expensive.
It COULD be the rear, but this is rare. In this case, you have to remove the taillight assembly, which is more complicated than it has to be, and clean the contacts. (I have a spare pair of taillight assemblies for 2001-2007 from my parted-out 2001 v70 if it yours is broken or cracked.)
The only problem is verifying which socket is at fault, which, for me, required me to leave the fast-flashing turn signal on, pull over, and ask my wife to jump out and look at the bulbs.
