Hi all,
I've searched here and the net...can't find the right way to fix this. The shifter cable that connects to the gearbox of my 05 s40i is disconnected. I see the cable move when I shift and there looks to be a round dust cap at the end of that cable. Inside that round dust cover is just empty. It is supposed to connect to a post with a bevel in it.
All things being equal I'd think a bushing with a snap clip would work, and I could engineer something like that but I would be cutting up the dust cover too...is there some part I can get to put in here instead?
Shifter linkage cable disconnected
Ok so I found the part that goes inside that dust cap...it looks like a ball and socket joint and the socket part of the joint was inside that dust cap...its torn off the cap and popped out of the ball as well.
I suppose I could glue the socket back into the dust cap and reconnect on the ball?
Ideally I'd replace that end with something designed to go in, but my searches on the net look like its a 1-piece cable?
