I bought a upgrade kit to upgrade my 240 from R12 to R-134a. I bled off the system ,and I tried to recharge it. The only connection I found was on the rear of the compresor, so I turn on the car and open the can of refrigerant , not much happen. The pressure on the system when up to the red on the kit gauge within 2 minutes , so I removed the can that was still half full and I check the air inside the car, but still no cold air. Any imput ?? what may I be doing wrong ? ( The kit comes with 3 cans and I only use half of one, that does not seames right for an empty system )

You probably need to pull a vacume. . If you just turn your compressor on with the engine, you may also pick up moisture and have an internal problem with your dryer/receiver. Do all of the mechanical work your self and get an A/C shop to charge your system.
There are two parts to converting to R134a, the first part is to discharge the system, drain and flush the R12 lubricant and install the upgrade parts. The second phase is to add the R134a lubricant, evacuate the system where all air and moisture is removed using special A/C equipment and then installing the correct amount of R134a refrigerant into the system. You cannot recharge an A/C system at home without the special equipment. Since it sounds like you have installed all the upgrade components just take your car to a reputable A/C shop and have them charge the system
