Hello everyone,
I am Oleg and I am a newby here.
Has anyone had such an issue or can give a tip on it?
My son had a problem with the engine – the cooling fluid was at high temperature (nearly at boiling point). The problem was in water pump (the car is 150,000 miles old). After dismantling the water pump the coil spring was found torn in two parts in it (please see the attachment). The water pump impeller was crushed by this coil spring, it seems.
Where does this coil spring belong to? Does anyone has an idea?
Thank you very much for your input!

I wish I could help you Oleg but I'm not familiar with what might be upstream of the water pump.
Pretty scary looking though!
The spring doesn't look mangled, though, so I'm surprised it was the source of your trouble.
Very curious!

It is part of the pump on the back side of the impeller. The spring has broken
