Intake manifold bolt size?

I have a 2004 xc70, and I spent the weekend replacing the PCV system. All went well until I managed to break off one of the intake manifold bolts. I was even using a torque wrench! Fingers crossed there's still some sticking out when I take the manifold BACK off. So that I can order a new bolt, I've been looking around to find the size. But I can't seem to find any specs. Anyone know what the bolt size is?

Also: You think it's fine to drive around with a bolt missing for a week or so at least? If it's a problem, I assume it will throw an air leakage code? It's not a danger to the engine or anything, right? It's the bolt all the way to the right. Just wondering how soon I have to extract the broken bolt.

One missing bolt is ok for a week. Replace the gasket also.

Thanks so much for the reply! And for the link. The ipd site says the bolt is for an 850; will it work for my 2004 xc70? I ask only because the ipd website's fitment function is telling me no.

Also: I replaced the gasket while doing the pcv. Replace it again? Is the issue that it functions like a crush washer?

The five cylinder Volvo engine was designed in the early 90's and haven't changed much since then.

It's not a torque to yield bolt.

You don't need a new manifold gasket. Unless you are getting massive air leak codes like P0171 or poor running you can drive it.

I think I would heat the block a bit and use some PB blaster and try a good vice grip (tm) , not a harbor freight one, to turn it off.

Thanks, abscate. That's so kind and generous of you to offer. Looks like I can get the bolt off FCP, though, saving you the hassle of mailing it to me. $8 in shipping, but I might have a think about other things I need to get it up to the $50 for free shipping.

A question: before I did the PCV, I was getting a ECM-130A code. It never tripped the Check Engine light; but it was always there and yellow in VIDA, which I understood to mean that the computer found the code occasionally. I wondered if it was the PCV. Anyway, last night I noticed that it has appeared again. It was yellow, but this time also showed green for the previous driving cycle. In any case, I'm wondering: would you suspect that the ECM 130A is from the missing bolt? You mention P0171, but that's not equivalent, right? Of course, the easy way to figure this out is to put the bolt in. But I ask now just in case there are other things I should be looking at when I go back to do the bolt. Like the TCV or something like that. The vacuum hoses themselves all looked fine. (I actually planned on changing them when I did the PCV, but I couldn't get those small clamps loose! So I called it a day.)

Yeah that 130A code is a detected intake manifold leak. The car compares the expected value based on rpm and throttle position and the value measured by the MAF and trips the code if the conflict.

You should look at your vacuum hoses and replace them all while you are in there, it's pretty easy with the manifold off.

If it's not tripping the CEL it's a minor leak, so drive it gingerly until you get that screw back in.
