I'm removing my 850 dashboard to replace the evaporator.
How do I release the large Red electrical connector please? In the instructions I have its described as a "Zero Force Connector" but I'm dammed if i can find how to open or part it.
Its the only thing I have left to do before removing the dashboard from the car.
Hope someone can describe or photo it for me.

You usually pull a plastic latch one way with no tools needed. If it won't move you aren't pulling it right.
What side of the dash are you on? Pictures really help, too.

Hi.
Its a right-hand drive.
The red connector is pretty much right above my right knee when sitting, but of course I have to lie through the open door on my back across the drivers side floor to get access.
There's a same looking white plug next to it which looks to be the loom to the rear of the car.
I've tried pushing and pulling both ends of the plug but nothing budges. I've tried lightly prying with a screwdriver but the plastic just bends.
The instructions I'm following also mention a tab that slides out but I can almost assure you there's nothing like that. It says the tab is purple, but there's nothing purple anywhere around the red connector. Unless its on the upside of the connector perhaps which I cannot see or get to?

A picture speaks a thousand words. As many of us own and repair LHD cars there are sometimes differences. If you can photograph the offending article and post it for us we can help you. Volvo use so many different annoying connecters that are used in difficult to access areas of the car and then add 20 year old hardened plastic they can be a challenge until you know how they work.

I took a photo.
The red one has all the wires on "this" side running to the dashboard, so I presume its this side that unplugs and the base remains on its mounting plate.
The off-white plug next to it at the slight angle is a same style plug with all its wires running over to the kickpanel and heading downwards - presumably to service everything back of the car.

It is the same thing, just a different color. Pull the end and it will literally fall off.
It is not obvious so don't feel bad.

Hi Lee.
I have tried pulling at both ends. There is no sliding part like the purple piece in the other photo. You can see where I've broken a small piece of the red plastic at one end pulling and prying at it.
The other end which is the most likely end to have a sliding tag is solid to the outer skin. ie: where you can see the rectangle tangs on both ends they are molded parts of the entire outer layer of plastic running around the entire plug.
There just doesn't seem to be a release anywhere and pulling the wires while fumbling around the outer perimeter of the plug does nothing. The connector remains firmly together.
