Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Fuel filter concerns

Post by Legofan »

After purchasing a fuel filter and replacing it the engine idles around 875-900rpm vs 750rpm before I changed it. The existing fuel filter was longer but had no markings on it. After doing some research I found that my chassis number is right near when they changed filter sizes and I'm not sure why or if it has any affect on fuel flow as the fittings are the same, diameter is the same and only body length is slightly shorter on the new one.

I drove it about 20 miles and nothing seems to be affected except the idle, no CEL either. Idle is smooth and consistent.

Anyone with some experience on these fuel filters care to chime in?

After sitting for a day it's back to normal. I'm not going to pursue this any further.
