I have a seatbelt related srs light on for the last year. The garage read the computer for me and confirmed that.
They said it was probably just a cable.
But I checked all and cant find any problem.
Besides that, the driver seatbelt retracts badly, gets stuck very easily, is twisted on the bottom and looks poorly.
So all the reasons to finally get another one and see if that solves it.
I will go to the junkyard today and see what they have for me.
But just so I know. I couldnt find the answer. Will a v70 front seatbelt fit on an 850?
V70 front seatbelt possible on 850?

I think the seatbelt mount changed in 1999 - there were a lot of SRS changes to when Volvo went to SIPS triggered by the module rather than impact. No more throwing dead pets at cars in Driveways by Robert.

The seatbelt anchor on the seat changed with the beginning of 70 series in the P2s but it can be modified to make it work for sure so long is it is a pre-99. In '99 (at least in the US market) the entire triggering system changed but I don't know if the set belt reel trigger changed along with it. For a '99 or 2000 as a donor car it may or may not work even after the anchor is modified.

I found an exact copy of my car at the junkyard.
Well found. It was just there..
And it had a good seatbelt.
After opening the cover around mine.. I saw mine doesnt even have a tensioner.
Someone had some fun with it..
I unhooked the battery for a while and connected the new one up.
Hope my srs light will go off now.
Or do I need a code reset for that?

SRS needs to be reset with a tool like vol-fcr and a OBD VAG-com cable if from 96-80 in North America. If you car is a 95, does it still have the flash reader under the hood in the engine bay?

a friend with vol-fcr (dont we all have such a friend?
) just checked the srs codes to see if it still was what I always had; the seat code.
It was still only that. We cleared it and it hasnt come back.
SRS light is now off. After one and a half year of seeing that nice red lamp it felt strange.
I started with a dash full of lights. Now only the check engine light is on.
Cant clear that with vol-fcr. it doesnt like the motronic 4.3.

Can you drive around 1 1/2 year with the SRS-light on in the US? Isn't there a yearly inspection? Sorry for my ignorance.... In Sweden some ruthless people with a faulty SRS-system tries to cheat the inspection by hotwiring the SRS-bulb... Maybe acceptable if you do it on your own car but then you shouldn't sell it with a faulty airbag.kaneelschep wrote: 11 May 2017, 11:59 a friend with vol-fcr (dont we all have such a friend?) just checked the srs codes to see if it still was what I always had; the seat code.

I can drive around forever with every light on the cluster lit. It goes state by state and even municipality to municipality.
I live in Kansas and in the 1970s they implemented a statewide annual inspection program. This was before ECUs and emissions restrictions other than unleaded gas and catalytic converters and most cars didn't have those yet. The way the program was set up the repair shops did the inspections and, as you might imagine, the repair shops would present the motorists with an estimate for at least $600.00 worth of repairs that were necessary to pass the inspection. The public was justifiably enraged and I think it only lasted a year or so before the legislature overturned the inspection requirements altogether. Many politicians got voted out of office over it and it remains a toxic proposal to even raise the issue again.
The only inspection in Kansas is a one time inspection by the state highway patrol when the car is first registered. That inspection looks at nothing other than the VIN numbers to make sure that the car VIN plate(s) matches the VIN on the title and a check that the car isn't stolen. I have had a car without wheels on it pass inspection sitting an a trailer.
