215/60R16 to 205/??R16

Post by qwertyjjj »

Currently got a 215/60R16 and looking to get a new set.
The 205s are cheaper.
What will change in handling moving to a thinner?
Also, should i stick with a 60 or move to a 55?
Some have said 215s desk better with potholes, of which we have a lot. The fuel tank door says stock is a 205/55/R16

The 215/60R16 that the dealer put on are 5% over what they should be. I thought you were supposed to stay within 3% difference?

Hi,

It seems to me that they are indeed too big. Standard would be 205/55R16 or 215/55R16 (both exists as official size). Could you please post some picture of your car, because I'm tempted to go a bit bigger like your current wheels.

If you go to 205/60R16, they will already be smaller. If on top of that you also go to 55 instead of 60, they will be even smaller, but this will be the official size for a 2004 V70 205/55R16.

Looking forward to see some pics of your car.

Peter
