05' V70 alarm question

When I lock my car with the remote, the flashers do not blink anymore. I'm assuming that means the alarm is not triggered?

This happened a while ago already but then suddenly it started working again until a few days ago. What's up with this, am I doing something wrong?
I did a quick search here but could not find anything.

Alarm isn't set, surely a trunk/hood switch got stuck

Ahh, thank you. That would explain why it's an intermittent problem, I guess.

Those things are always the hardest to diagnose. I will wiggle the one for the trunk first and see what happens.

If you read codes with an upscale scanner or VIDA will it report the open switch?

I don't know, but I don't have either. My scanner is pretty basic and a few years old already. I'm toying with the idea of getting a Vida/ Dice set up in the near future though, we'll see.

Oragex, you nailed it. I slammed the tailgate a few times, but that did nothing. Then I slammed the hood just once, and bingo, the alarm sets again.

Now, what can one do to fix this? Do the hood latch mechanisms need replacing?

Indeed, the trunk electric latch goes bad quite common and be fixed, try google up some diy on it there are surely a few up there
