Hi,
First time here and I have a (probably stupid) question. I've searched the web and this forum for the answer to my question, quite unsuccessfully. So please bear with me if this has been discussed before. Just point me to the right place please!
I recently bought a 2002 V70 2.4T in great shape and 120,000 miles. I've been going through it doing everything that should have been done... timing belt, waterpump, power steering pump and reservoir, struts and shocks, fluid flushes, filters, top engine mount, brakes, etc., etc. Everything went extremely well due to all the great videos out there and my handy pdf of the VIDA. But now I'm stuck.
Replacing the brake hoses. Front uneventful. But when I got to the back I was stymied. There seems to be no way to get a wrench on the flange nut connection and have anyway to turn the wrench. 2 hours later, I gave up.
I released the clamp that holds the hard line to the chassis, but that still did not give me the required room to work. What am I missing? The answer is probably obvious when you know it, but it sure isn't to me.
Thanks for your help, and thanks to Robert for pointing me to this site. (He didn't know the answer either!)

Welcome to the forum
Can't answer the question, but my rear flex hoses are in good condition long after the front ones were well cracked both sides.

I think I know the area you are working. You have to work a spring clip out of a groove, then pop the fitting between hard and soft line out of the bracket, then you can access the joint.
If ypu know you are replacing the soft line, ypu Can cut it and then get a full closed end wrench on the fitting

To clarify, I guess it's called a flare nut, not a flange nut. When I get a wrench on the flare nut and another on the end of the rubber hose there's absolutely no room to apply leverage. There's a pressed metal piece sticking down, that I usually use to jack the car in the rear. I'm thinking it's a jack/lift pad... at least that's what I've been using it for! If I take that off I could probably get it done. There are 3 heavy bolts running up through it into the frame. Can I just pull those, drop the metal jack/lift pad and proceed, or do you think this piece is something else that should not be removed? Thanks again for all the responses so far.
