94' 855T Weird oil loss

Hey all, wondering if anyone has ever experienced this one.

Changed my oil and filter on Wednesday, drain bolt and filter was put back nice and tight, ive done oil changes on these 2.3's more times than I can count. However last night while going out to grab a bite I noticed my valves ticking for a minute but went away. So I checked the level before starting my commute this morning and the dip-stick was bone dry!! Had to add about 2-3qt! Checked the driveway, under the hood, hoses, cam seals, subframe, drain plug, and filter but no leaks at all. Checked the dip-stick after my 50mi commute and the level is where it should be. With no visable 'oh-s**t' leaks (some little leaks) and no oil burning this mystifys me. Only thing I can think of is a mechanically inclined person has it out for me lol.

*Little side note, highly doubt any damage was done as the cam had a nice puddle of oil in it.

Well... I'll try and stick to Ockham's razor, and say the oil probably wasn't there in the first place...

So you didn't add oil before driving it? Eh, I guess if there was no sign of a leak it was fine (obviously it was if it shows now...).
That is very strange. It would be virtually impossible to burn all that oil that fast, and obviously if it came back, that didn't happen anyway.

Maybe you got a wrong read on the dipstick. Did you measure the oil volume when adding or just add it in like I do?

Unless you had a major failure you would either see a huge pool of oil and spray over the underside of the car, or a smoke screen when running. If it were me I'd put it down to a senior moment, but check after the next run and it will hopefully be all good.

Yeah i didn't measure it, just poured a jug of 5qt and a bottle of 1qt (some was put in the filter).

Just checked the level after it cooled off when I just got home and still shows the correct level.

Really strange though, now ill be checking every day for abit as i have this lurking feeling somethings going to give under the hood. Just so odd so much disappeared without a trace.

Mr Occam visited my driveway one day and took all my new oil and poured it on the driveway.

He then threw my oil drain plug into the old oil catch pan to add insult To injury

6 liters of brand new Mobil 1. It was awful picking it up with toilet paper and squeezing it back into the container for reuse. The oil, too.

You sure someone didn't empty the blackwater tank in the RV into it? =p

Reminds me of the story of the guy that tried to syphon gas - through a black water vent...
