Spark plugs and their gap

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Spark plugs and their gap

Post by atman100 »

I have about 50,000 on the current spark plugs and that is a lot. It's time to replace before a big trip. The dealership ones are $12 each (probably Bosch ) and that is unacceptable. What do you think, NGK or Bosch ? And what is the gap for a 2005 , turbo 5 cyl ?

They are supposed to be gapped to .028 according to NGK Spark plug website and another forum I read said .032 to .028.
I gapped mine to .032 they came out the box at .040
I was being cautious because I read .028 to .032.
I used NGK Iridium IX.

I don't recall the part number I used, but I used the Bosch equivalent which has a different part number than the standard Volvo Bosch OEM plug. Same plug w/o the Volvo logo, but cheaper. They were all pregapped 4 prongs.
