Blower motor malfunction

Post by RZomerman »

Hi everyone,

I have a 2012 XC90 and the internal (AC) fan is not always working correctly. upon reading this forum I replaced the blower motor and the resistor pack under the dash, and while the noise of the fan is now way better the main problem of sometimes the fan doesnt start continues. it happens usually after shutting off the (main) engine and starting the car within say 5 minutes.

the fan doesn't respond to the knob controls (but lights show up) nor does it respond to the defroster button.. the only solution is to shutdown the entire car wait 15 minutes and start it up again..

given I've replaced the resistor and motor already.. what else could be the problem? the controller that is behind the dash somewhere? does anyone have the schema for it ..and how easy is it to replace?

I had someone with the same issue. I'm guessing but is the new resistor pack also a used unit? Many of them had these issues, I'd try another resistor pack, or better, a new one from sites like Fcp Euro, Ipd USA, Eeuroparts

Until then, try just to pull the blower fuse before starting the car, may help a little
