C30 heater-a/c problem

Post by Sid001 »

Hi, I have a C30 T5 and blower for the heater and a/c is blowing very softly, you can feel if your hand is up by the vent but the car does not get hot/cold.
My wife also has a C30 and her fan blows at much higher speeds.

Any suggestions, Volvo said probably not the motor itself but another component that might control regulate the motor speeds?

Assuming it's a 2010, if you turn the blower to the max speed, do you hear lots of venting behind the dash?

If not, it may look like this topic https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=200011

These blowers commonly fail on P3 cars and it's not pretty. The parts looks like this and it takes a special Volvo tool to remove it from there

Maybe also check the knob for proper working.

Could be something blocking the recirculation vent, like a piece of paper or napkins that was inside glove box. I'm not 100% sure about the C30 but on the XC70 behind glove box is location of cabin filtration, ventilation and blower motor. Look in the area.

As above, if the fan makes loud noise at max but little air coming out, I'd look in order at the cabin filter, ducts to the blower blocked by leaves etc, then inner climate doors perhaps not opening. Plugging it on Vida should indicate if the actuators are not operating the doors properly. Sometimes as little as a calibration may fix the issue. The swirl arms on the actuators may also be broken.
