Componant locator

Post by equiprx »

I have had my 2002 V70 2.4t for nearly a year and I do not know where any important items are.
The fuel filter and oil filter would be something I think I need to change.
When I had a Jaguar if I had a question there were service manuals with maps.
I knew where I would find things like the ECU, relays and fuses.
There are labels near some of the fuse locations but I don't know where all the fuse panels are.
Is there more literature than just the handbook which is basic at best.

The hardcover Haynes manual from England is still found on book sites. It's one legit way to get started.
Search for Haynes #4263. Try Amazon or Books4cars.com. Used copies are cheaper. I've seen 'em from $20 to $40.
Alldata.com should offer their "subscription service manuals" for the V70.
Posted videos are good too but sometimes we want paper under our paws.

Of course VIDA is better as there are drawings included. I don't have a VIDA but I've seen pictures people have transferred from it.

The fuel filter is forward of the LR wheel (driver's side rear wheel in No. America).

The oil filter is in a black plastic housing. It is nestled into a contour located at the right front of the engine's oil pan.
Get an 86mm "cup style" socket if you have no other tool to address turning it.

The ECU is in a black plastic box on the right front fender ahead of the strut tower.

The oil filter and ECU, being on the vehicle's right side, means they'll be on the left as you look into the engine bay from the front.

There's one fuse box rear of the air filter housing and another in the driver's end of the dash board.
You must open the door and remove a small panel-where the dash meets the closed door.
