1987 VOLVO DL STATION WAGON, 4 cyl, AT, ps, pb, runs and drives exc, minor rust, safety till Nov 8/06 , No GST, 256,000 kms, $2,500 CDN obo.
I'm thinking of buying the above car. You can see it by following the link below. I've talked to the owner and he tells me there is minor rust on the hatch and rear wheel wells.
Also, the AC needs a recharge.
Anything else I should be worried about? I've wanted to own a DL wagon for a LONG time and this might be the right vehicle at the right time.
Thx for your input.

Sorry you didn't have a reply here for several days.
The question you asked is far larger than the information you provided - unless it's all in the link, which I didn't look at.
First off, $2500 CDN seems kinda steep from my view. But values vary with locality.
On a car of this age, inspection and condition is everything.
It could look gorgeous and still have the original engine oil (OK, I'm just trying to think of an example of something pretty awful).
Or it could have dull paint and some broken plastic bits on the interior that make it look awful - but oil changed every 3,000 miles, Mann filters used, tranny fluid flushed every 2-3 years, all suspension rubber stuff replaced, etc. etc. - which would make it a desireable car unless shiny paint is the buyer's main interest.
BTW, on an '87 you definitely need to consider that it could have a self-destructing wire harness. That problem began in the early '80's and ran partway through '87. Some cars had harnesses made with OK materials, others, well, the insulation crumbles away exposing the conductor to short circuits as well as corrosion. Some of these cars got a complete harness replacement (several hundred $US for parts and the same for labor); many others only had the offending wires replaced as they became apparent.
