Starter - broken spade connector

Post by Geevs »

Discovered that my car would not start because the green wire with the spade connector had it's plastic shell break apart and isn't grabbing the terminal. The green wire's location is in a pretty tight spot and the wire is short. Any suggestions on what's the easiest way to fix this without having to remove the starter?

Thanks!

You can splice a piece in but even that will be tough without moving some stuff. When I splice wires, particularly in that area where they are exposed, I solder them and heat shrink over the joint.

If this is a N/A you might be able to get in there with a soldering iron but the intercooler on a turbo takes up so much space that I doubt that you can physically get to it without removing the intake manifold or the intercooler.

Can you get your hand in there to remove wire? I haven’t worked in this area yet so I don’t know the layout. If you can disconnect the wire, you should be able to make a new longer wire and put it back in there. You could splice new wire into harness at a place that is more accessible.
