Hey everyone!
I have been a lurker since I purchased a used 2005 xc90 a few months back with a 100k miles. to preface I love this car but i have had a lot of issues with it.
The biggest issue I am currently is a grinding sound coming from the front driver side when accelarating from a complete stop.
I have put a new cv shaft in, new bearing new brakes and rotors, new struts and nothing has fixed the issue.
the sound usually comes up between 0 and 40 mph and goes away at higher speeds. I also made a video -
Thank you in advance for any advice!

Did you check your bevel gear and the splined connector joint? Either of the two could be failing.

Have you checked the engine mounts? It sounds like something rubbing while the engine is under a load. Perhaps the engine/ transmission are moving while under load putting something in the AWD in a bind? June

I had the same issue after the mechanic worked on my muffler. The drive shaft was in contact with the muffler and making the grinding sound. Loosened the muffler to adjust the same.

Thank you for all your replies! Unfortunately I might have to trade the car in, the rack and pinion failed on me and some high pressure hoses with the power steering. Mechanics are asking 1500+ so I dont think ill own the volvo for much longer
