Turn Signal stalk?
I have a question for anyone that might venture a solution to a seemingly bad electrical connection for my turn signal stalk. Almost every time I pull down or push up the run signal stalk, there is no immediate blinking of my turn signal lamp. I have to jam it up or down and pretty soon I want to just snap it off. Must I replace the present stalk?

So Mr. Rattnalle, is the problem then the connection itself within the stalk? Just want to understand.

The stalk is a contained unit with the mechanics and the electronics connected to the stalk. It's only got a a few pins connecting it to the car. So what you describe which sounds like the moving parts not getting proper contact will very likely be within the stalk mechanism.Mr. Detail wrote: ↑07 Sep 2018, 09:45 So Mr. Rattnalle, is the problem then the connection itself within the stalk? You could also remove the stalk and work with it on a table comfortably if you want to. But I'm not sure I would bother personally unless a replacement isn't convenient to get.

Try removing it, you can also open it where the printed board and the moving mechanism are if you like investigating things, it's not too difficult. I do not know where the problem is, but these stalks do go bad once in a while. As above, replacing with a used one from the junk yard shouldn't be that expensive www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCSbTSj1THI

Thanks guys! I don't have that much time these days, so I will pull a junk yard one and hope for the best.

On both of our P2 cars I’ve popped the switches open and cleaned the inured. Much quicker and cheaper than a trip to the junk yard which would possibly would have gotten me one in the same condition.

I have a similar problem with my turn stalk, it engages blinking fine but often randomly disengages early or for no reason (often when turning the wheel or going over bumps).
1) How much do replacement stalks cost typically? Can you still get new ones or only used?
2) For people who have done do, how hard is it to just disassemble the stalk unit and clean it? Are they glued together or something stupid?

Last I saw they’re still available new from the dealer for around $60-ish.
Not glued together. Easily opened up. As I recall you only need to unscrew the circuit board piece.
