240 preheater hose recommendation?

Found my preheater hose crushed beyond hope. Looking online, most reviews for after market say they're not much more than aluminum foil compared to OEM. Does anyone have a recommendation for a replacement that won't tear upon install? Thanks in advance.

Are you sure you need to replace it? Your location is listed as California, so I'm imaging you may not need the benefits of aid for a cold start, unless it's required for emissions testing or something.

Its not needed for starting....best I can figure, its for "M.P.G" and emissions in colder environments

This started along time ago: September 1967 Commemorating Oldsmobile’s Turnpike Cruisers -

New Climatic Combustion Control used a valve-and-diaphragm system in the air cleaner assembly to maintain a 100-degrees Fahrenheit carb inlet air temperature by mixing underhood air with preheated air ducted from the exhaust pipe. The consistent temperature allowed for more precise carb tuning than could be achieved when having to compensate for wide variances in inlet air temperature. This resulted in increased fuel economy and lower emissions.

It was built to cruise at high speed comfortably and efficiently and according to the Car Life road testers, it did just that, while posting 19.26 MPG at 60 MPH and 17.22 MPG at 70 MPH on the GM Proving Grounds.

Motor Trend tested the Turnpike Cruiser alongside a 4-4-2. With the 2.41 rear gear, it was reportedly running at 2,200 RPM at 65 MPH and the 4-4-2 with 3.08s was turning 3,000 RPM. Average fuel consumption for the TC was 15.7-18.1 MPG and for the 4-4-2 it was 12-15 MPG. The Turnpike Cruiser posted a 0-60 time of 8.7 seconds compared to the 4-4-2’s 7.1, and a quarter-mile E.T. of 16.5 at 85 MPH versus 15.5 at 91 MPH. Passing times 50-70 MPH were 5.8 seconds for the TC and 4.3 seconds for the 4-4-2. Listed weights were 3,850 lbs. for the 4-4-2 and 3,860 lbs. for the Cutlass.

You are correct - mainly just like to keep things factory. I found one at a wreck yard that is in decent shape so that'll work. I did read a few threads that this might also be part of emissions and I'd rather not play that roulette here in southern California.
