Removing Headrests

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Removing Headrests

Post by bectonuk »

HI ALL- I have just bought a 2000 Volvo S80 and am trying to find a way to remove one of the rear headrests so that the Britax Highliner booster seat I want to use for my youngest child sits at the correct angle.
At present the headrest pushes the top of the child seat away from the back of the seat and it is not properly secure.
I have had a go at pulling them out and looking for a release button but am now stuck. Any suggestions welcome.
Regards
Kevin

I am moving this to the S80 forum where it belongs. Leaving the original post's shadow where it was originally placed so this thread can be found by bectonuk.

Good luck finding your solution!

I don't know if or how the back headrests can be removed; but, I have a 2002 S-60 and in order to install the sheepskin covers I have to remove the headrests from the front seats.

There is a spring clip of some sort that holds the headrests in place near the bottom of the posts. If I follow the edge of the cutout for the pocket behind the seat approximately 6 inches from the top of the seat, I press in somewhat firmly at each post area and you can hear and feel a little twang. The trick is finding the things. It is kind of a game of looking for the key to the secret passage.

I haven't had a need to try to remove the back headrests but perhaps they are similar.
