2003 S40 no crank.

Before I go ripping in to this. Lets see if anybody has had this experience before.

Car was cranking and running fine. Pulled the Radio and CCM to change the lamps in the CCM. Reassembled and now the engine will not crank. The car does have some CCM DTCs but they where there before I started this.

Tried the IMM reset, Lock/Unlock five times. No DTCs in the IMM.

Anybody know of anything that may of gone wrong when I had it apart.

Could not leave it alone and ripped into it anyway. Traced it to the ignition switch.

I changed the relevant position between the electrical portion and the mechanical portion of the ignition switch, the car will crank and start.

I cannot think of anything that would limit the travel of the mechanical portion so I'm betting it is the electrical portion that is defective.

Later today I'll remove the cover from the electrical portion and see if I can correct it.

Nothing wrong with the electrical part.

Something in the lock cylinder is preventing the tumbler from moving to POS III. New lock cylinder >$150.00. Used from LKQ Pick-your-Part $14.00 but the closest one that has a 2000 - 2004 S40 is 180 miles away and I'm not sure you can get the key at that yard. The key needs to be in POS I to remove the tumbler.

Volvo part number 30887387 for cars with shiftlock mechanism and key-in warning.
