1996 Volvo 850 Dash Help!!

Hello.

I am trying to buy a dashboard for a 1996 Volvo 850. I want to get i as a gift for my husband. But I am unsure of the differences between a dash panel, a dash assembly and a dash cover. He dash got pretty beat up in a tornado a few years ago. I could get pictures of the dash and maybe someone could lead me in the right direction as what I should get or do? Or if I should just let him deal with getting one.

Pictures of what is damaged would go a long way. You are likely to get plenty of help on this forum regarding what to consider replacing.

The dash cover (also called dash pad) is easily replaceable and pretty easy to source from a junkyard, the dash proper (probably what is being called a dash assembly) is a lot more work.

They are both unavailable as new replacement parts in either OEM or aftermarket. I have not had good luck at Pick N Pull junk yards either since most of them are rotted out just as bad as the one I am looking to replace. The only prayer is to find a really clean one from a car that was garaged all the time at a salvage yard but that is not the typical junk yard fare. Erie VoVo runs a bunch of cars through their shop and there is another yard called Tom's Foreign that does the same. They typically focus on engines and transmissions but they might be worth a call.
