Hello Wedgie and welcome to the forum. We are gentle with everybody, well usually!
For a first post it is a good question, hope you don't make a habit of hard ones.
Unfortunately, the engine mountings, although roughly in the same place, are entirely different. I would also think that you would need a 940 gearbox and, again the mountings are different.
The swap should be possible but I think it would involve much hard work.
Bill.

Thanks for the compliments...you're making me blush sir!
Seriously
I had a feeling it would be a bit of work to do this, but how different (and in what way) are the engine mountings and would it be a case of replacing with later parts or would it be an entirely custom fabrication job??
What about the 740 Turbo lump???
If its going to be too much graft for the engine swap, what about tuning the 240 lump? Is there a viable way of doing this? I dont need anywhere near 300bhp, anywhere near 200 would be sufficient as I wont be massively competetive, just enough to keep me entertained!
Would it be possible to plumb in a 740 Turbo unit to the stock 240 engine on the cheapish?
I could use some information on upgraded suspension as you no doubt know, the suspension is fairly stiff for a car of its ilk, but its no good for track racing so I could do with stiffening up the ride and maybe lowering too
Thanks for the welcome too Bill

The 740 has the same mountings as the 940 as the engines were carried over.
As for the rest of your questions - more research is needed, or should I just say "Help"?

I see what you mean Bill, there is quite a different between the mountings!!
Id have to have a word with some people and see what the cost of the new mountings would be!!
There is a fella from Ebay with a 740 Turbo race car whom I will ring for information tonight so maybe he can help with my suspension questions
Thanks again
