Just picked up a 2010 XC90 R-Design with 132K miles.
Two issues I need to address, The radio display is blank - turn on power and the Performance Sound logo comes on then nothing, no sound or display. Am able to access audio menu for treble/bass etc and the scale displays and responds to adjustments.
Second issue, when accelerating aggressively, there is a shudder in what I think is 3rd gear. goes away as soon as it up shifts to 4th. You can baby the pedal and smooth shifting is accomplished without the shudder. Does not happen every time, but every time you are aggressive on the gas.
Thoughts?

As to your second question see here OP's second post for his symptoms: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=88484
Your transmission does not have a dipstick, but a transmission drain and fill would be where I would start. If you have access to a scanner that reads what the transmission is doing that would also help - maybe you have a failing solenoid.

agreed. dropping the pan will reveal a lot. I generally do NOT recommend a flush, just a drain a refill.

A common issue for shudder under heavy acceleration is the passenger side axle. It is very noticeable if you accelerate while changing lanes.
Found this for the infotainment blank screen maybe?
https://xemodex.com/us/product/infotain ... 236-10-20/
$349.00 shipped both ways.
Will do some more research on this.

in regards to the XC90 front right axle, does the same part fit R-Design and non R models?
anyone use after market parts? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 31&jsn=434

There have been lifespan issues with aftermarket axles. You could probably do better finding a used one from a newer xc90 with less mileage.

See this: https://www.ipdusa.com/techtips/10176/v ... ion-issues
and this TransGo kit: http://www.transgo.com/products.php?cat ... uct_id=269
Assuming it is not your axle. Another forum member is having similar issues.

I will be removing the radio from dash and checking if there is fiber optic light coming from the unit, starting there, then will bypass other units if it is working. The Nav unit isn't working either.
Have driven about 200 miles since my original post, the shudder only happens about 10-20% of the time, lots of opinions out there from solenoid to right axle to torque converter, maybe 3rd gear band, or fluid flush. My Volvo mechanic says the dealership just replaces transmissions and rarely takes them apart?? WTH

Removed radio head from dash and had light in the fiber optic, light in the amp, but no light in the Nav unit under front seat, so figured a break between amp -Sat -Nav, initially I had checked the radio 10 amp fuse, and it was fine, decided to go back and check the 30 amp Amplifier fuse, lo and behold it was burnt. Replaced fuse and everything works now including the Nav unit.
Moral of that story, check ALL appropriate fuses in the chain. Sigh
