I have been experiencing vibrations (more like a humming noise) on my 1994 850 Turbo starting at around 40 mph. I have recently replaced the top engine mount and hoped this would solve my problem, but it did not. Following advice found on this site, I have examined the right side engine mount. The pins are sitting close to the bottom of the oval hole, but not completely at the bottom. They definitely are closer to the bottom than the middle.
How do I know if the engine mount is in fact collapsed? Does the pin HAVE TO sit at the bottom of the oval hole, or is the situation I described a good indicator of a collapse? Are there any other possible causes? If it was the wheel bearing, how can it be diagnosed?
Thanks in advance for ANY help on this matter!!

Hy,
Were these vibrations are located ? In the steering wheel ? It could be tie rods ends, tie rods steering, at their end, control arms... it could be a wheel which has lost its balancing weight... I would start by here.
The front axle assembly must be checked. Put the car on a stand and check how you can move the wheel. If it's loose, you've got the beginnings of a solution...
Then, to have a closer look to all engine mounts, especially the upper one. If they have the car's age, it's time to act.
