1998 XC leaking oil cooler hoses 3528201 3528207

Hello! I've got a leaking oil cooler hose and am balking at the replacement cost. I am looking into crimping some new ones for myself but not sure what kind of crimping kit to buy for this. Has anyone taken this route and if so, what do you recommend? I would like to get something that I can use for high pressure hydraulic hose repair as well. Thanks for looking!

There have been several topics on making or repairing the oil cooler hoses. Unfortunately new ones are expensive.

And as Neil mentioned there have been several other writeups if you do a search. This one is also excellent with links and instructions for the real PITA remove and install job: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=56014.

You can also take the hoses to a hydraulic shop, like for semi trucks or farm equipment, they should be able to do it for much cheaper than buying new.

don't waste any time getting to this , I have a black 98 S70 paperweight in my yard that Blew an oil line and 3 miles down the road self destructed . I literally walked home from the place it breathed its last breath and was able to follow the oil trail most of the way. When the light came on it only went another 1/4 mile

Thanks bronco! Lucky for me I noticed the leak before total bleed out. I had recently replaced the pcv system, which involved working in tight spaces. I'm pretty sure the leak started because of me pushing my hand against that hose, but there was no other way to do that job. I'm also on high alert because I keep on repairing oil leaks on this car. It seems that as soon as I get one leak fixed, along comes another one! The car has only 105,000 miles on it but it is 22 years old.

The oil pressure is around 40-50 psi etc.

A good 1/2" oil hose can be used to rebuild.

All you need are:
1. Appropriate 1/2" oil hose.
2. Appropriate Oetiker clamps. Screw-type clamps are probably OK too.
