Unlike many of the other repairs I've managed to do over the last few years, I'm struggling to find information and parts to fix my washer fluid issue on my '98 V70 wagon (NA). I've scoured the forums here, a bunch of Google searching... I might be missing something obvious, as merely a dabbling home mechanic, but I'm running out of ideas.
After doing a coarse test a few weeks ago, I'm convinced the leak is occurring at the washer fluid filter, either the filter itself or the outgoing tube that connects to it. The system holds fluid at rest, but the moment I activate the pump, the entire reservoir drains from the filter downstream of the front pump.
I want to thoroughly troubleshoot the system and replace whatever parts are necessary. I'm thinking while I'm at it, I will also try to repair the lines that feed fluid to the rear washer sprayer. (I can hear the rear pump activate, but fluid never comes out from the rear).
1) What are the type(s) of tubing (and length) I might consider replacing?
2) Where might I be able to source the front washer fluid filter? I've searched IPD, FCP euro, eBay, and Amazon, to no avail. I haven't asked my local Volvo mechanic, maybe I'll just turn to him? See:
3) Are there any parts diagrams online anymore? I've found a few dead links to diagrams, and plenty of false positives leading to systems that are clearly not the one present in the '98 V70. I can't even figure out the part no. for this filter!
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
