Hey! I have a 2001 xc70 awd. I bought it for a few hundred dollars and I’m trying to get it running. I replaced the oil separator. But I think the PEM might be bad. Does anyone know where to look?

They live either on top of the gas tank on the passenger side or in the trunk area. 2001 is an early P2 so make sure it has a PEM first! Volvo web store can help with system diagrams and pictures

Thanks for the response. Yeah I am having trouble finding out if it has one or not. The Volvo web store. I will try it. I was able to order a used pem. It said that it fit my vechicle whenever I put in the year make and model so, I am really hoping it does in fact have one and this will be a plug and play fix.
P.S. What does the P2 mean?

Volvo speak , sorry

P80 is first generation of the 5 cylinder transverse Volvo line. 850 , S70 V70 from 1992-1998

P2 is the next generation from 2001-2007

And the special years of 1999, 2000 are technically P80 , but are also called the “ bastards”

This forum is called “ the P2 Forum”, too.

Guys, I’m dying. I have looked in the spare tire area. No pem. I looked under the seat. No pem. I am digging around on top of the gas tank on the passenger side. Even loosened and lowered the tank to get my hand up in there. I cannot find the pem. I know it will fix it and I have the part. Just can’t find the thing!

As above, no PEM and no FPS on 01-02 as discussed on forums

What is the actual issue ? It won't start ?
