1998 V70 XC stalls intermittently
My 1998 V70 XC has started to stall when I'm driving. I've been going uphill or on flat surfaces, with a full tank of gas and with a partial tank. It hasn't happened on the highway .... yet, just in residential areas. No error codes are coming up for the dealer to see, so they don't know what to do. It has happened to the dealer once too. Any ideas?

93 & 97 850'S
FUEL PUMP RELAY
not sure if your modle has one but the 850's do and they
go bad adn cause sudden stalling

Where would the fuel pump relay be located and identified on a '93 850??
Just thought I'd ask for my future reference.
Thanks

i HAVE A Volvo 850 Turbo 1995 and have same problem. Last year we changed the fuel filter. Problem went away. This year the filter did not help. It seems to happen when the weather changes. Before a storm is coming on or when the temperature drops. I would like to solve this one. Any suggestions?

Dr. Seuss
my '87 740 TI did the weird stall. turns out that my distributr was going out. so the car would die then come back to life. a symptom: the tach would fall to zero then go back to the right rpm. maybe thisll help.

I had a long series of problems that were seemingly unsolvable on a 2002 V70. Get the Volvo field technician involved. There are apparently many, many possibilities for causes from places you would never expect (mostly because of the computer system interactions). In my case, a mechanical failure, an idle arm was defective (only determined rather quickly by the field technician). It was sensitive to cold, humid weather. Putting the piece in the freezer and replacing it duplicated the problem. It had been stalling every few days. One year without stalling so far.
I just had my fuel pump changed out and it has stalled again. It stalls at low speeds or at stops. The traffic was so bad on the freeway that the whole engines shuuts down . I need to restart and then I have power. But I am afraid of anohter stall. Any clues? Nothing is coming up when my mechanic tries to get an error code.
