I have 1990 750GL with a Regina fuel system. I have ordered and received a new intank fuel pump (only one pump on regina). Fuel relay checks out, it clicks when key is turned. When pump ordered gave vin number to parts guy , even so still not sure I received right part. The one on the right is the the old one and the one on left is new part no. 3501928. As you see they are different, but that does not mean it is wrong part. I have received parts for my dodge that were improved over orginal. So is that the case here? If so I will need to modify wiring and fuel line or is there more parts I need?
I now know more about this fuel system than I wanted to.
Looking at the picture, the pumps appear to be functionally equivalent. They don't have to be identical in appearance to be functionally equivalent.
My questions is, "did you get a pick up filter sock for the suction end of the pump?"
When I replaced the main (under car) fuel pump on my 740, I had to modify the wires to hook it up. The original pump was Volvo and the replacement was aftermarket Airtex.
Good luck with this repair and let us know what you do.
