Transmission filter change question after kickdown cable replaced.
Hi folks, I'm beating through the multiple site forums for some indication to an answer for my question but haven't found anything as of yet. Ill keep looking but thought I'd at least ask the question.
I have pulled the pan to replace the broken kick-down cable and after all the horror stories I've read here..
It was not nearly as bad as I expected, my car is a Seattle only car so dipstick tube nut was a piece of cake. My experience 2 of 10.
I replaced the OD solenoid with the block off plate, piece of cake. 1 of 10.
I replaced the kick-down cable and it was a little testy, broken piece of plastic stuck in the tranny was worst part. But over all about a 3 out of 10.
So I decided to replace the filter since it was all going so easily but removing the last bolt was a challenge. There was a pair of tubes in the way, one ~1/4" and one ~3/8" so I kinda tried pushing it out of the way but no happy so I pulled it down and to the side and the front of the tube came out of the front of the tranny somewhere. I hope I can get up there and see where the tube goes and just push it back into place.
So now i was committed and I pulled the filter and realized there was a spacer about maybe 3/4" thick that the filter sat on which also had a gasket.
The gasket kit had only the one filter gasket and obviously I need two. Question is why would the kit only have one filter gasket and not two, since disassembly would damage them both?
I contacted IPD where I got the kit and apparently they only sell that one with only one filter gasket along with the filter and the pan gasket.
Anyone run into the situation with their work under the car?
Thanks
Hideo
