Driving home from the store the other day, drivers window stopped working. So, take it apart again!
This is a used regulator that was installed last year. My thinking is that the center take up spool is slipping. What are your thoughts? The motor definitely works, but the cable is not moving. I have a rebuild kit and am waiting on the rubber grommets for the motor itself, so won't get this taken out until Monday. I have plenty of spare time, so any helps would be great!
Thanks

Some times the cable will pull loose from the spool. You got to get in there and see what going on.
Hope you got a good repair kit.
Some of the kits on Ebay do not have the tension adjuster on the end of one of the cables. That cable will not stay in place.
You need a kit with two like the one in the green circle.

Not too many have done the cable type regulators. The first generation C70 is the only one that has the cable type. The one you have is correct.
You want the rubber motor mounts. The motor has enough torque to bend the sheet metal.

I have this all apart on the dining room table. I looked at all the cables, pulleys etc. There seems to be nothing wrong. Upon taking the back of the motor off, I unspooled the wire and nothing really looks bad. What is the possibility of the gear itself spinning? The black wheel on the spline looks fine. I can turn the black take up wheel, but there is good resistance. If I take the wheel off and try to turn the white gear connected to the shaft, it is nearly impossible. How much resistance should this motor have in turning the gears?

You would be able to hear the gear spinning when you power the motor. The motor is 12 - 14V. Polarity one way for up. reverse polarity to go down. The window may just be binding and need some adjustment. What does the grease on the rails look like? Is the glass running parallel with the rails?

It looks parallel yes, I will grease the rails, and hook up a battery charger(?) later this morning. I really can't see any issues with the whole set up. All the cables look great, no chewed up ends or fraying. Boy, those springs attached to the motor are STRONG!

Oh! What grease would you recommend? I have some white lithium spray grease, as well as regular axle/bearing heavy grease. My Mercedes suggested bearing grease on the motor gears?

The rails are clean and dry as a bone. I Put it all back together, greased up everything I thought might move and reinstalled the cassette. Same issue. I could feel the spindle on the take up wheel turning, but not the wheel. I could also see that when I reversed the switch, the cables started to move as if they were going to take up slack, but then slippage. I am guessing the white plastic gear on the take up wheel is stripped. I have found some rebuilt replacements from Cardone, but for another $75 I can get a used cassette. Any thoughts?
