hi guys, me again, this just happened, i left my lights switched on when i left the car, i didnt realize they were left on, as no headlights were on when key removed, must of been away about 3 hours, come back, still didnt know light switch was in the on pos, turned key to start engine, started ok, but headlights blew straight away.... thought the fuse must of gone at first, but they are all ok,

bummer, gotta buy new bulbs now......:(

just going outside to get the bulbs out, to check they have defo gone pop....

mmmmmmmmm :cry: :cry:

just wondering should that of happened......


its a 95 850 T5 estate......

I agree with JRL. I leave mine on the "on" position all the time. Almost 2 years like this now and never had a problem.

mmmmm, i cant leave my switch on, as i saw yesterday the rear lights stay on with key removed, maybe somebody who had the car before me had done some hacking and modding, for whatever reason.....

well ive replaced the bulbs, god sake isnt anything easy to work on on these 850s......it was easier to remove the whole front assembly with headlights..

removing the bulb covers in situ, i couldnt get my hands anywhere near the spring clips on the bulbs.....

oh well done now, wont be starting the engine again with lights in the on position.....

Absolutely nothing wrong with starting the car with the headlight switch in the on position, these cars were designed to do just that.
THAT is not what was wrong with your car unless the switch itself is bad. (There is a recall on the headlight switches)

mmmm recall on the headlight switch, maybe this was never done....ill try and get one, thanks...

No, the DEALER has to install it (if you want a free one).
What do you think a recall is anyway, just let them give you a free part??
