How to remove the rear door window crank?
I need to replace the window on the rear door of my 850 and the window is manual. I need to pull the window crank out to remove the whole panel. But i dont want to pull it out with raw power, and i dont know what to do next. I know Volvo is more complicated than other cars, so i guess there is something else to it than just pull it out with raw power

There are two threads on an UK Volvo forum that might have the answer, sadly the forum is currently down. When it comes back online I'll pop back, hopefully with an answer. Until then, hopefully someone else can solve it for you.

I recall it being a clip that slides to the side. You push on the door panel towards outside so the panel pushes away from the handle so you can get to area behind handle hub and then pull the clip opposite the handle shank. I have a J hook tool but I have opened a cotter pin 90 degrees and used needle nose pliers to bend the end around for a small J hook many times to slip those clips off. There also is a special tool for pushing off those clips. The C shaped clip gets installed back into the handle and you install it by bumping it onto the shaft with butt of hand. The shaft it goes on is splined and has a groove a few mm from end that the clip falls into to keep handle from sliding off shaft.

Check these pics out. It seems very different. I guess the thing inside should be somehow triggered?! Pushed or twisted...jimmy57 wrote: ↑08 Aug 2020, 09:04 I recall it being a clip that slides to the side. Alright, admins and moderators. This topic is solved, at least for me. Flag it as solved, i dont know how...
The solution is simple: as soon as you remove the surface plastic from the window crank, there you got a metallic kind of plug basis. Pull it with a flat screw driver from top or bottom. Try to pull it evenly, so that you dont damage it anyhow. And then the crank will come out really easy!
