What's my Volvo wagon

Post by loveMy850 »

I have a B5254S engine.its a 1994 ok well it seems all good, but looking it up, did I come off the assembly block at the end of the year, bc B5254S is starting at 1995. I'm a bit confused, is it 2.3, 2.4 what do I have? When I order parts some will say that won't work, and what they say will work is more expensive, but many things do work. Can someone please explain. Do I have a 94 95 Volvo wagon? 2.3 or 2.4
Thank you

According to Wikipedia it is a 20V 2.5 used from 91-95.

Some confusion is caused by different model years in Europe. When I was in the UK, the car year was based on when it was made or registered for the first time.

94-95 in North America is an awkward change over year from headlights to electronics.

Model year changes often occured mid-year. This wasn't to do with the countries, just happened to be when the tooling and changes were implemented in different factories. My Belgian made 850 was manufactured September 95, but is a MY96 car - because the equipment and tooling for the MY96 facelift arrived at the factory in August.

The important thing to look for is the engine code, which only shows one result. A 2.5 20v as Neil says. As Neil also states, the B5254S was used from 91-95, which would seem to remove some confusion from your post.
