Jumping fuel pressure

Post by algopyguy »

Have a fuel pressure gauge at the rail.. I have a rough idle I'm trying to troubleshoot.. I'm curious why my rule pressure jumps instead of being at 55lbs? I can feel when holding the hose the change in pressure as it feels like a jolt on the hose to the gauge.. Can see the fluctuation and hear the engine.

Thoughts?

Is a NA non turbo engine, I read the same about turbo version but unfortunately doesn't apply to my application

I’ll see if i can find my video but that is not what I saw. 52 psi with perhaps 1/2 psi variation, needle barely moving.

Those random glitches of fuel pressure going down to half aren’t good either.

I would troubleshoot CEM/ fuel pump relay voltage, PEM, fuel pressure sensor , AND fuel pump

I’m not quite sure what the 2002 MY used for fuel delivery , so some of those might not be applicable.

The turbo vs non-turbo discussion sounds like made up stuff. If we could point to how fuel regulation is different between turbo and NA we can understand that but throwing out that the turbo is different without that info is just speculation
