Hello together from Germany.
My girlfriend drives a 2001 V40 1.8 liter "Sport Edition", whatever that means. This also includes a lowered chassis. I want to change this lowering now. Since I have failed several times when trying to install VIDA, here's my question: Is it enough to replace the springs or do the shock absorbers also have to be replaced? And what should I watch out for with used springs? Are there any markings or color codes? Many thanks for your help.

Don't know what a 1.8L "Sport Edition" is either. Here we got a 1.9L turbo in 2001 and can't recall any references to special editions.
How much lower is the chassis? I'd be surprised if the factory lowered it much.

For what it's worth, my gut says that changing springs to raise the car back an inch or so will not require changing the struts. But do you know what kind of struts are in it?

Around here, used springs are a gamble due to heavy salt use in winter. My original factory springs (2001) lasted about 14 years before the coils broke. I replaced those with aftermarket springs which broke after 5 years. My car is not modified at all and I don't even drive it hard. The problem I have is that it's getting harder and harder to find quality parts for these cars. We'll see how long these second replacements last - I just did them last summer.

I'm not aware of any markings or codes. I just felt lucky to find springs that were affordable for a 20-year old (getting rusty) car.
