Well this is really cool! Do you mind me asking what kind of engine block heater you are using?
Thanks, Dirk

The storm, heading your way only dumped a few inches here in UT so not enough to post a good pic. Guess you guys are gonna get hammered when it mixes with warm air from the south, I look forward to seeing some cool pics from you NorthEastern folks. Make sure that snow blower carb is cleaned and ready to go !

Rumor says you have a T5 powered snow blower in your garage ready for this storm.

I like the silicon oil pan heaters or even the water heaters that fit in the water pipes. The Volvo one does work but has to be left on for a long time. Strangely Canada has a lot of variety of heaters including heaters you can sit under the car engine bay that are pretty inefficient but do warm a large area.
I did pull some Volvo block heaters a couple of years ago (as I suggested I might in the linked thread) and managed at that time to find new leads for some of them as some were a little worn on those I pulled. The neat thing on the Volvo ones is they are fitted on a swivel bracket that fits behind the lower edge of the hood on the cross member. It means it is hidden and protected when not needed.
The bigger issue was to use thermal paste when fitting the Volvo one between the block and the heater. Again I managed to find some on line conveniently supplied in tubes. Now if I only can ever get the stuff out of storage I can share more info. I think I even had a P2 version!
I have mentioned it before, if it is constantly below 32F (0C) it is worth fitting a piece of cardboard behind the hood grill with zip-ties, in particular with turbo engines to reduce the likelihood of the intercooler freezing.
Neil.

I've only iced the throttle body once. I was in 10-15F in slow 15-25 traffic in PVD three hours ft home. Started getting ETS light. Once I got back up to 50 mph and light boost it all cleared up
