How do I remove this trim piece and replace the key flap?

You have to remove the inner liner of the trunk lid and then there should be access to the nuts that hold that panel in place.

Never thought about it or looked at it as I have not had a S70. Is it plastic or metal of some sort?

It is plastic and there appears to be a spring in there that is sprung, perhaps.
I will know when I pull the trim piece.
