04 V70 gauge cluster swap with 05 S60 clusteR?

Post by Cliff1120 »

I was at the junkyard today getting various parts for some of my cars, and saw an 05 S60 with dash cluster part number 30746106. Removed it from the donor car, and when I got the dash cluster home, I found the socket on back of the cluster did not quite match the plug of my 04 V70's dash cluster. Does anyone know the pin-out of the V70 cluster harness and the pin-out diagram for the V70 cluster? I would like to see if I can remap the pins to make the new gauge work in the older car.

Any ideas?
Anyone tried anything similar?
Should I just buy a same year V70 cluster?

Thanks in advance

Cliff

Even if you could re-pin the connector your chances of getting an ‘05 DIM to work in an ‘04 car are very slim at best. Not only does the year have to match but, more importantly, the code numbers on the back of the DIMs have to match or it won’t be compatible with your car.

A company like Xemodex may be able to repair you original DIM.

chrism,
Thanks for the info; I was unaware of this. Also, my DIM is not damaged in any way, I was just looking to upgrade how it looks to something newer. There is no loss as the '05 DIM was only $18 at the local boneyard, and I have 30 days to return it for a refund.

Hey there cliff.. if just wanted to give it a different look.. you can change the "backlighting" on the gauge cluster. I saw different colored bulbs on eBay.. MDK.
