Opinions on oil
Just wondering what the consensus on what the best oil for my 300000km XC 70 with a 2.5 turbo would be for winter operation. It routinely gets minus 30 Celsius here and the car is often parked outside when I’m at work. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Mobil1 0W40, goes on sale at crappy tire often for about $30 a jug. I like the way my engine runs with it.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

Volvo manuals are online at Volvo. For my 2.5T 2006 S60, 5w-30 protects down to -30C, but 0w-40 protects to a lower temperature and also to a higher one. 5w-30 only protects to 86F (+30C) but of course, it is never warm in Canada!
I just googled Volvo S60 2006 owners manual. The oil temp ranges are in the maintenance section:
https://volvo.custhelp.com/app/manuals/ ... UyMQ%3D%3D
The chart for 2006 differs from the one for 2005. I would trust the more recent one.
