95 Wagon 850 - Interior parts coming Unglued!

Hi Volvo Experts.

I am new to the site and not too hip on car terms so please bear with me.

My wagon comes from New England where it had very minor effects from the weathering, but seems to have caused a few cosmetic problems. The rubber/plastic panel which appears to cover the passenger airbag, above the glove box, is coming up around the edges. Also, the narrow fabric-covered side door panels above the handles are no longer attached along the edges.

I need some advice in how to re-attach them, or whether I should have it done professionally.

These are common items that come loose on the 850. Evidently Volvo went with an environmentally friendly glue. There is no real repair except replacement. The air bag cover can be bought. You might try www.erievovo.com for a replacement. Call them. They are very slow with email.

Both can be glued.
Depending on how bad your dash is, it can "take" or not.
You need to find extra strength glue for the dash and lay something heavy on it overnight (like a brick, no pun intended)!
I have done a couple of these, (dashboards), they both were on for sale cars so I have no idea how long it lasted.
If you don't have a heated storage place I would wait for either of these until you have a place where it's at least 60 degrees before you glue

I hear about people gluing things in their cars and i wonder if they consider that by using the wrong type of glue when the sun heats it up in summer (specially on the dash tops), it will emit vapours which might not be pleasant or might cause fainting.

I would suggest that before anyone uses glues and adhesives they either use ones which are safe or consult your local automotive paint or supply store before using it.

No use fixing your dash.. if your going to faint and crash..

Sure, I'll do some research. I have read that this was a recall item and I could take it into the dealership. Not really sure how that would work. I am not the original owner, nor have paper work. Any info?

And, yes maybe you can have 50 Cents produce your next hit!

Get some 3M uphulstery Glue from the local auto parts store. It comes in a black can with red lettering. $3.29 a can. Spray both sides untill the glue becomes some what dry/tacky and press down. That stuff works great, even in Texas heat.

Make sure both mating serfices are clean before spraying the item you are repairing.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!
That stuff is not strong enough for the top of the dash
(Not a recall item, your car is TWELVE years old and this is a trim/cosmetic item, certainly not a safety item)
