Coolant level indicator not working properly, 1999, C70

Post by owenmpk »

The coolant level indicator on my 1999 C70 keeps comes on and stays on some day and other days does not come on. The coolant is full so that is not the problem. Before I start chasing all the wires down has anyone else seen this issue and a found cause?

I would suspect that the level sensor is faulty. This happens often on sensors immersed in water.

You could try removing the sensor and check to see if it is sticking at all.

There are only two wires going to it: 1 yellow and 1 black. The black is the earth (ground) wire. Check it for good connection.

I fixed the problem by lifting the coolent tank out of its mount and shaking it. It has worked ok for the last 2 months

The easy repairs are the best. Probably the sensor was sticking.

Glad it is sorted.
