On my driver's side door, the lock "pin" as they're called on IPD, or "knob" for the typical aftermarket, is broken. It's plastic and must have been hit just right, at some point. I found the missing piece yesterday, while looking at my floor mats. I've thought about gluing it, but would really just like to replace it.
These from Ipd are nice, but kinda pricey, for a plain black piece.

I've looked at generic aftermarket pieces, and I find plastic and aluminum. Plastic, I'm sure would work fine with whatever thread, as long as the hole diameter was close. Aluminum, I think would require a proper thread.
Any idea what the thread on the factory Volvo 850 lock rods is?
Door lock pin or knob replacement.

Get a salvage yard knob? I discovered a while back that the Volvo stem is smaller than 1970's Ford truck door lock stem. I needed replacement knobs for my truck and had lots of spare Volvo knobs from 1980's. I ended up scraping off the old chrome and painting black.454cid wrote: ↑30 Jan 2022, 15:04 On my driver's side door, the lock "pin" as they're called on IPD, or "knob" for the typical aftermarket, is broken. I have not actually visited the local yard yet, but I do not have high hopes for them having relevant Volvo parts. I suppose I should try, Though.volvolugnut wrote: ↑30 Jan 2022, 17:51 Get a salvage yard knob? I discovered a while back that the Volvo stem is smaller than 1970's Ford truck door lock stem. I wish the aftermarket parts that are universal-ish would state real specs. I can't even go to the parts store to look at them, as everything seems to be special order, for the local stores.
Thanks for the insight on the Ford parts.... that tells me they're probably too big.

I like to develop a relationship with a local parts store. Then they will order stuff and let you inspect before commitment to buy. They may also give you better discounts off list price if you are a regular customer.454cid wrote: ↑30 Jan 2022, 19:19I have not actually visited the local yard yet, but I do not have high hopes for them having relevant Volvo parts.
